Communication has morphed over the past 5 years and although the trend has moved toward texting as the primary form of connecting, it may not be the best way to communicate during the real estate transaction.  The key is to find out how your clients want to be reached and then make sure that you are communicating with the way it is the most comfortable with them – this will definitely make a difference in the relationship you want to build.
